Our Mission

The Facilities and Capital Planning (FCP) team plans, builds and manages facilities and physical space within the School of Humanities and Sciences in support of teaching, research and creative expression for students, faculty and staff.

Our mission and vision focuses on providing leadership and expertise to create and support a culture of safety and maximize space utilization through thoughtful planning, programming and project management.

The mission and vision are accomplished as follows:

  • Provide expertise in program and project management and facilities planning
  • Utilize tools and processes to proactively drive our business forward
  • Practice fiscal responsibility and accountability
  • Help H&S build a culture of safety through fostering proactive awareness and forging university partnerships
  • Function as a high-performing, collaborative, and flexible team
  • Serve as a role model for other administrative units across campus

The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is home to 23 departments and 25 interdisciplinary programs across the humanities and arts, social sciences, and natural sciences.

FCP supports teaching and research within H&S, which utilizes over one million square feet of space distributed over more than 60 buildings. The school's geographical reach extends to Stanford in Washington, and the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve; FCP also provides the operational support for these locations.

Physical space and facilities are integral to Stanford's excellence in teaching and research. As pedagogy and research needs evolve, our team responds to them. We are responsible for-and dedicated to-helping support a new generation of scholars across the school, whether they are chemists in a wet lab or pianists in a music studio.
